Welcome Back! 2009/10
From Mrs. Leake
Welcome back everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing summer. Even though school has started, the library will be closed for another couple of weeks. I have much to do to prepare for the up coming school year. We have many new books and more on order so please come by when we open and take a look at our display of new arrivals. I’m looking forward to seeing each and every one of you and invite you to visit the library often. I’m always here to help you find just the right book and hope you will enjoy perusing the shelves yourselves to see what a great selection we have. See you soon!Invitation

Questions Answers
Q - How many books are students allowed to check out? A - K through 2 may check out one book at a time. 3-5 students may check out two.
Q - How does the computer catalog work? A - It’s easy once you’ve had a little instruction. You will find it very helpful in locating your subject or title in a speedy manner. If you do not already know how to use the computer catalog, please ask Mrs. Leake or your teacher for instruction.
Q - Are students allowed to play games on the computer? A - No! We have only 4 student computers and they are for school related use only.
Q - What if the book you want is already checked out? A - Ask Mrs. Leake to reserve the book for you. That way you can be assured you will get the book as soon as it is returned.
Q - Can parents check out books from our library? A- No, we are not a public library and would not be able to handle that kind of volume.
Readers Oath
I promise to read each day and each night. I know it’s the key to growing up right. I’ll read to myself, I’ll read to a crowd, it makes no difference if silent or loud. I’ll read at my desk, at home and at school, on my bean bag or bed by the fire or pool. Each book that I read puts smarts in my head, cause brains grow more thoughts the more they are fed. So I take this oath to make reading my way, of feeding my brain what it needs every day.

LIBRARY HOURS:
Our library opens at 8:45 before school and is open until 3:30 after school. We are open during lunch recess from 1:00 to 1:20. Primary classes have a set schedule for their library visits. They will hear a story and have time to check out books. Check the library schedule for your student’s assigned day. Upper grade students visit the library at various times. Teachers sign up for class visits according to the needs of the students. We have 30 minute openings for research and 15 minute openings for check out.
